They took me in the dead of night. . . well not just me, there were others, but most are gone now. They took us to a deep, deep place. The kind with magic, where only the Tallmen and fairies go. They beat us, they starved us, they took our minds, and broke our souls. . . well, most anyways. I survived and this is my tale. . .

Comparable Books

Time Period and Magic Style

WalkTall is set roughly in an era comparable to a mid-20th-century totalitarian dystopia, evoking the grim realities of wartime Europe and Cold War oppression. The magic is minimal and visceral—a raw empathic bond with creatures that flickers unpredictably rather than formalized spellcraft.

Is "Walktall" Overtly Religous?

No! Walktall is written with Christian themes but not overt religion. Why? Because I serve the story first and would never risk becoming preachy. I follow in the tradition of J.R.R. Tolkien.
